Choosing a computer chair for your child

Why is ergonomics so important?
Our children spend a great deal of time at their desks. Studying, working, and playing on the computer mean long hours of sitting in chairs that aren’t always well-suited or, to put it bluntly, random chairs. It shouldn’t be the case that a child uses the same chair for their desk as the one at the dining room table. Even if it’s the right height, it certainly isn’t properly contoured. If we don’t want to contribute to the development of poor posture in our youngest ones, let’s forget about ordinary chairs - we should look for children’s desk chairs among office furniture. Only in this furniture segment will we find swivel chairs and armchairs with perfectly contoured seats, backrests, and headrests. Swivel chairs for children, just like “adult furniture,” are height-adjustable, so there’s no need to worry that you’re buying a piece of furniture that will soon need to be replaced with a new, larger one. Adjusting the seat height-which is additionally tailored to the natural curvature of the spine and adjusting the recline tension ensures that the body finds the most comfortable position, in which it will not feel discomfort for long periods. If we set the child’s chair correctly, their feet will rest on the floor.

We should treat children’s desk chairs the same way we treat car seats they must be perfectly tailored to individual needs. Only then can we hope that our child won’t have back problems, and when they finally sit down to do their homework, they won’t keep getting up every few minutes to adjust their uncomfortable posture, stretch, or have a sip of tea which is often just an excuse... Because, as we all know, when surfing the web or gaming, posture obviously doesn’t matter ;)

Youth Swivel Chair
Do swivel office chairs for children, teenagers, and adults differ from one another? Yes in size. No because they’re all designed based on a single principle: they’re meant to fit the body as closely as possible, offering extensive options for customizing seat height and backrest recline. However, let’s not give in to a child’s persuasion and buy them an “adult chair” for a seven- or thirteen-year-old, it will simply be too big, meaning it won’t fit properly. Let’s choose a chair or armchair appropriate for their age, and then all its ergonomic benefits will be fully utilized.

We can give young people complete freedom in choosing a model-since all the swivel chairs for children and teens in our store are ergonomic as well as the upholstery pattern. The youngest kids will surely be fascinated by the fact that the swivel seat has wheels, allowing them to roll around the room, while older kids will appreciate the extra features. What are we talking about? For example, the Rover 2 chair. It is a modern, mobile swivel chair with an A3-sized writing tray and 360° swivel capability. This chair was designed for people who need a maximally comfortable work and play station in spaces with limited room—such as in tiny rooms in prefabricated apartment blocks.

An equally interesting design solution is the Rookee model. Equipped with comfortable armrests and a footrest, it meets the standards PN-EN 1335-2:2019, PN-EN 1728:2019/AC:2013, and PN-EN 1022:2019, which means it is fully safe and maximally ergonomic.

What does it mean to sit healthily and comfortably?
It means that while working at a desk, the child sits in such a way that:
The backrest supports the back at least up to the level of the shoulder blades, and its curved section at the lumbar region fits perfectly into the natural curve of the lower back when you sit down.
The angle of the backrest can be adjusted to suit your desk, lighting, and the work you’re doing, and in any position you assume in the chair, the backrest supports the lumbar region of your spine.
The backrest is flexible and dynamic, meaning that in addition to providing constant support for the spine during every movement, it also allows for free rocking and swaying in the chair when you want to rest.
Armrests set at the correct height reduce strain on the spine and shoulders, ensuring a 90-degree angle between the upper arm and forearm.
The seat height can be adjusted so that the feet rest on the floor and the thighs are parallel to the floor, and its depth ensures support for 2/3 to ¾ of the thigh length. This means that there should be a two-centimeter gap between the edge of the chair and the knee joint.
